Introducing Vincennes Chiropractor Dr. Richard Snider
“I want to be a doctor but I don’t want to get called out in the middle of the night to deliver a baby,” sounds like an odd reason to pursue a career as a doctor of chiropractic. However, as a freshman in high school, Dr. Richard Snider recalls, “it was reason enough to learn more about how I could use my hands to help others.” A lot has changed since the spring of 1978, but one thing that hasn’t is Dr. Snider’s desire to help others achieve their health goals.
Dr. Snider was born and raised here in Vincennes, Indiana. His parents, Dick and Margaret Snider, encouraged the development of a solid work ethic as he grew up working in the family business, Snider Body Shop. “I started with sweeping the floors when I would get home from school. I worked my way up to painting semi trucks during breaks from college,” remembers Dr. Snider. Dr. Snider has three brothers. “We’re all in the body business,” Dr. Snider shares with a smile. “Mike runs the body shop with our parents, Duane is a chiropractor in Avon and Dion is a chiropractor in Bedford.”
Dr. Snider graduated from Vincennes Lincoln High School and Vincennes University before attending Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri. He completed his internship at the Montgomery Health Care Center in St. Louis, Missouri. After his graduation, he returned home and opened his practice in March, 1987.
Dr. Snider married his high school sweetheart, Lori (Luking), and they are blessed with 4 children, Erik, Sabra, Phillip, and Simon. He enjoys spending time with his family around the pool, snow skiing, working in his woodshop, being involved with the youth at church, and collecting Red Skelton memorabilia. Dr. Snider and his family worship at the Monroe City Church of God.
“I thoroughly enjoy what I do, helping patients get back to health without drugs or surgery,” Dr. Snider shares about his decision to be a chiropractor, “the results we see in our office continue to WOW me very day. And in case you are wondering, Dr. Snider has been called out in the middle of the night (on a few holidays too) to treat patients but has left delivering babies to the obstetricians.
